It’s the Bird King
forming the words,
deforming my thoughts.
He sits in his cranial throne,
making my blind wheels spin.
The first book I ever loved was Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are, a picture book that distils story-telling to its essence. Dreams and monsters have preoccupied me ever since.
Much of my writing appears first as tweets, which are then made into miniature poems or prose poems, or assembled into longer pieces. In March 2012 I was fortunate to be invited by novelist Jeff Noon to join his Twitter writing group, @echovirus12, a project that has led to many interesting collaborations. I set up Chimera to develop some of those collaborations and enable others.
All of my pictures and poems are made and published using mobile technology. My mobile phone rescued me from writer’s block in 2011 and I haven’t looked back.
